Position summary

Mehad is currently looking for HR coordinator based in its office in Gaziantep. The HR coordinator will establish the HR function, providing support to country level activities and will provide HR expertise and guidance to Mehad teams in Turkey and North East Syria.

The HR coordinator will be responsible for the HR set up and overall management of all areas related to Human resources. He/she will provide guidance on HR matters and will ensure Mehad’s compliance with local laws and regulations.

This position reports to Head of mission and supervises 2 Human Resources positions : 1 HR officer and 1 HR Assistant.

Roles and responsibilities :

  • Ensure proper application of the Human Resources policy of the organization, provide inputs and suggest policy and HR systems adaptation when required
  • Advise on the mission organisational structure : Review and develop job descriptions, provide work analysis and support performance measures development
  • Develop and implement training plan for the mission staff
  • Ensure recording of personnel-related data (payroll, personal information, leaves, turnover rates etc.) in the database and ensure all employment requirements are met for the mission staff
  • Plan and supervise implementation of the evaluation process at all levels (from project staff to management staff)
  • Supervise the salary and wages process for the mission on a monthly basis
  • Ensure the recruitment, selection & on-boarding processes for Gaziantep office staff
  • Provide line managers and staff at every level with HR advice and support as required to deal with HR issues and questions that arise

Qualifications, experience and skills :

I. Academic background

[Required] MA/ MSc / MBA Degree or Diploma in NGO management, development studies and other relevant humanities and/or social sciences

[Preferred] Academic background related to public-health and/or humanitarian/conflict management is an additional asset

II. Professional/Practical Experience

[Required] Proven experience as an HR coordinator or relevant human resources position

[Required] Knowledge of Human resources processes and best practices. Strong knowledge in turkish labour law

[Required] Experience with HR databases and proven effective and practical HR management working across several sites

III. Skills and attitudes

  • Strong drive to meet deadlines, organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure
  • Strong team leadership and communication skills
  • Strong intercultural competence and emotional intelligence
  • Excellent written and oral communication in English
  • Detail-oriented approach with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work remotely with an international team across different countries and particularly including cross-cultural dimensions
