Job Title: Emeregcny Team Leader 

Duty Station: White Nile 

DRC - Sudan

DRC has been present in Sudan since 2004, delivering life-saving programming in protection, emergency response, shelter, food security and livelihoods, disaster risk reduction, camp management, and humanitarian mine action. DRC has implemented projects in Central Darfur, South Kordofan, Gedaref, Port Sudan, White Nile , and Madani. Sudan hosts one of the largest displaced populations in Africa, with over 3.7 million internally displaced people and over 1.1 million refugees from South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Central African Republic, Chad, Yemen and Syria. Against a background of political crisis, Sudan faces economic and social turmoil, with sharp increases in food and energy costs, further exacerbated by disease outbreaks and ongoing conflict

Overall purpose of the role: (1-2 sentences)

Develop and maintain positive relationships with individuals of concern, relevant stakeholders, and other humanitarian actors to facilitate the effective implementation and coordination of DRC's sector activities. Ensure the quality of planning, implementation, and follow-up for all technical aspects of the sector activities undertaken by DRC. Provide technical support and guidance to the team.

Responsibilities:

Management

  • Ensure effective planning and quality implementation of the sector/support activities
  • Lead and manage the team (including people planning, performance, well-being and development)
  • Ensure daily monitoring of area
  • Asses the daily quality
  • Provide technical support and inputs
  • Reporting

Programming & Operations

  • Ensure efficient and effective program implementation while following the budget and work plan
  • Participate in preparing monthly/quarterly/annual highlights/reports and proposals and budgets for donors
  • Lead the team in carrying out monitoring and evaluation exercises

Coordination and representation

  • Collaborate with relevant internal and external technical experts on sector relevant issues
  • Represent DRC at meetings and other relevant technical coordination meetings
  • Ensure integration with other DRC sectors

Project development

  • Develop project plans and budgets for funding
  • Develop projects tools
  • Project implementation and reporting
  • Monitor and evaluate projects

Logistics/Finance

  • Support the monitoring of financial commitments and expenditures against budgets and provide timely feedback on budget follow-up
  • Plan and coordinate proactively logistics and movements of staff from and to different operational areas
  • Initiate procurements and ensure their execution
  • Ensure distribution plans are prepared and shared with logistics in a timely manner

As Team Leader the post-holder is responsible for the following:

  • Accountable for people management of employees, usually working in the same area of work
  • Accountable for ensuring that agreed work plans and tasks set by the next-level up Manager are implemented on time
  • Hiring and termination of employees and conducting performance appraisals (closely overseen by the next-level manager)

Required experience and competencies:

  • Minimum 3 years of management experience at a mid to senior level, preferably with experience in the field of humanitarian response and refugee protection working for an international NGO, UN agency, relevant ministry, or local authority
  • Minimum 3 years of practical experience in sector area working for an INGO
  • Proven management skills and a competence in people management
  • Commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures.
  • Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Full professional proficiency in English
  • Field experience
  • Education Back Ground: Master Degree in Political science and international development, economic or other relevant fields.
  • Language: Good English and Arabic communication skills.

    Salary range: 1836-2068 USD

    Location: Port Sudan
