As a Face Miner, you will prioritize safety while operating face line machinery to efficiently maximize output. This role involves working in adherence to ICL UK safety policies, collaborating within a production team. Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Safety: Adhere to risk assessments, method statements, and relevant procedures. Implement emergency procedures for a secure working environment.
- Planning: Participate in safety discussions with the team and leaders. Independently plan work for safe and effective execution.
- Decision Making and Problem Solving: Identify and communicate problems. Make informed decisions regarding hazard identification and risk management for operational safety.
- Operational Parameters: Adhere to rules, procedures, and correct tool/equipment usage. Participate in SLAMs, risk assessments, and method statements. Conduct pre-start checks on equipment.
- Communication: Keep the Overseer informed of changes that could affect district safety. Actively participate in safety briefings with feedback. Complete relevant logbooks and report to the overseer at the end of each shift.
- Information Management: Utilize relevant information concerning mining requirements as supplied by the Overseer.
About you
You bring the following qualifications and skills:
- Good understanding of Health and Safety principles and issues.
- Appreciation of support systems, ventilation, geology, and other technical service disciplines.
- Proficient in risk assessment and method statement development.
- 18+ months underground experience.
- Level 2 Skills for Life (Numeracy, Literacy, ITQ) or evidence of GCSE equivalent/higher.
- Risk Assessment Trained and IOSH Working Safely certified.
- Effective Communication Skills.
