Role Summary
As Test Technician Apprentice you will be based within our Supply Chain, of over 600 people. Throughout your 45-month apprenticeship, you will study a Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship, completing a HNC/D.
During the scheme you will complete 1 day release at Gloucester Engineering Training and then the rest of the week hands on training in our various test cells across our production lines. You will receive training in fault finding to a component level and the associated tasks.
In addition to technical development, we are also committed to supporting your broader personal development. Throughout your time on the course, you will be given the opportunity to participate in projects and training outside of your apprenticeships with the aim of enhancing both your interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.
You will be supported by your line manager, plus placement managers, mentors, and the wider apprentice network, to ensure you are meeting the requirements of your course and getting the most out of your apprenticeship.
Overview of the scheme
Throughout the scheme you will be working towards the apprenticeship standard ST0841. Learning the key knowledge skills and behaviour. At college you will complete 5 HNC modules in year 1, in year 2 3 HNC modules and 2 HND and in the final year 5 HND modules. You will then complete an End Point Assessment to complete the level 4 Apprenticeship.
At work you will begin to learn the workplace skills knowledge and behaviour that you need to be a successful Test Technician. This will include use of manual and automated test equipment, supporting quality and engineering investigations, reading and understanding electronic digital and analogue circuit diagrams and raising relevant paperwork for all task required by the governance of the product.
As you progress through the years you will become a more integrated member of the team, taking on more responsibilities in your department and within the apprenticeship community.
Candidate profile
In addition to demonstrating that you have achieved, or are predicted to achieve a level 3 qualification In Engineering or A Level in Maths and Science (or equivalent), the successful candidate will also be:
