Roles and Responsibilities
- Performs installation and commissioning activities at customer site locations during ship construction. Must be capable of working unsupervised and leading small teams.
- Performs troubleshooting activities at site locations during scheduled Port visits or at sea to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolution, and implements corrective actions.
- Performs a wide range of engineering tasks to ensure the technical integrity and proper installation and commissioning of GEPC Power systems and associated control systems.
- Develops presentations and provides training and instruction to customers on system operations.
- Advise the customer of recommended upgrades, parts, and service opportunities to improve customer productivity and sell GE parts and services.
- Performs other related engineering tasks to facilitate proper commissioning and customer satisfaction.
- Provide on call support in response to customer calls for service.
- Perform work on-board vessels within GE / Customer safety guidelines either in shipyards or offshore.
- Extended hours / overtime maybe required during peak periods and emergency circumstances.
- Domestic or overseas travel to customer sites for extended periods of time.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university (or Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university with a minimum 3 additional years of related Field Service experience in a Field Service/ commissioning environment with Power systems and associated control systems).
- Minimum 5 years of Field Service and/or commissioning experience
Eligibility Requirements
- US Citizen with the ability to achieve security clearance for Department of Defense projects
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 85% of the time on short notice
- Must be physically fit to be able to board vessels offshore.
- Must be able to pass a HUET and offshore survival course which includes activities in a swimming pool.

- Governors- Engine Speed control for synchronizing and load sharing.

- Ability to execute increasingly complicated assignments, which require considerable engineering skill and creative ability and independent judgment.
