Principal Responsibilities
The Patient Advocacy Lead will work as part of the Global Patient Experience function with the aim to contribute to the development and implementation of the Patient Advocacy Strategy across various therapeutic areas of interest to Alexion.
Role specific tasks
Lead and execute the development and implementation of the Patient Advocacy plan across the therapeutic areas of interest to Alexion Türkiye as well as ensuring execution of identified & prioritised activities
Identify, build, and maintain strategic and sustainable relationships with new patient
communities and associations in pipeline therapeutic areas
Build, maintain and enhance strategic and sustainable relationships and partnerships with patient and patient caregivers
advocacy organizations (PAGs) in the areas of interest to Alexion
Contribute to the Patient Advocacy function of Alexion Türkiye by providing dedicated support to local launch and brand teams as well as other key local workstreams by identifying critical areas for patient engagement / patient input; keep track of and communicate key deliverables, milestones and timelines / coordinate & implement related activities
Contribute to the Patient Advocacy function in Türkiye by showcasing the value of Patient Advocacy and by designing patient-centric processes and delivering best-in-class patient engagement across the therapeutic lifecycle
Contribute the Alexion Türkiye perspective within the Global advocacy team, and contribute to global/international work streams where the local perspective is required
Support the coordination and implementation of the engagement of PAGs in clinical development programs running and/or planned in Alexion Türkiye
Support the coordination and implementation of the engagement of PAGs in launch planning and data generation initiatives (HEOR/ MR) as well as in relation to local HTA processes or other post-marketing initiatives, in close partnership with Medical Affairs and Market Access teams and
Based on local needs assessment, carry out strategic Patient Advocacy programs and partnerships related to disease awareness and education, diagnosis, access to appropriate care, , in close collaboration with the
the cross-functional team and especially with relevant medical colleagues
Contribute to educating internal stakeholders on the role of PAGs and our standards of working with PAGs; champion the patient voice and experience at the local level and ensure that patient perspectives are reflected in our thinking and approaches
Manage and track PAG sponsorships & other key processes in Alexion Türkiye; coordinate annual disclosure of PAG funding in Alexion Türkiye as appropriate
Represent Alexion at local PAG events, seminars and conferences
Contribute to the company’s evolving philosophy and long-term vision for patient engagement as well as enhancing the patient-centric culture within the company
Identify and create opportunities for other internal functions to engage with and listen to patients and caregivers to learn about their journey and needs
Establish close cross-functional collaboration with all key internal business functions
Ensure ethical interaction and compliant collaboration/partnership with PAGs in Türkiye
Manage and execute multiple projects while maintaining an understanding of local and global Priorities as well as attention to detail and excellent quality and execution skills
Show excellent project management skills by ensuring excellent coordination and execution of all activities, keeping orderly record, project tracking, internal reporting, minutes taking and presentations drafting
Demonstrate ability to take initiative and consistently deliver high-quality work
Work as active member of patient task force working groups under AIFD Türkiye organization.
Qualifications*
Minimum of 3 years of related experience in Public Health & Pharmaceutical Policy,
Healthcare, Communications or Patient Advocacy
Knowledge of the rare disease Patient Advocacy community in Türkiye along with proven track record of successful interactions with patient advocates and patient
Specific knowledge in the area of neurology, hematology and metabolic therapy areas is desirable
Solid knowledge of the medicine’s R&D process and opportunities for patients and
Patient Advocacy groups to contribute to such processes
Knowledge of the legal and regulatory compliance environment impacting the
pharma/bio industry and interaction with Patient Advocacy groups
Understanding of key trends affecting patient engagement and new forms of patient interactions
Intuitive, socially intelligent, flexibility and creativity to excel in a rapidly changing
environment
Proven planning and organizational skills with experience managing multiple
priorities; ability to prioritize in a shifting environment with a sense of urgency
Strong track record in working cross-functionally
Excellent communication skills both vertically and horizontally
Exceptional sense of ethics
Willingness to travel (10-15%) within the Türkiye and international, as required
Most importantly, a passion for patients and research
Education
University degree required
Fluent in English, written and spoken. Other additional languages an advantage
Advanced user skills in standard office software applications
