You will report into the Reinsurance Administration and Accounting function within the Controllers Department. You will collaborate with Product Development, Profitability Management and External Reinsurers to implement new reinsurance agreements and administer and account for existing agreements.
Reinsurance Administration and Accounting:
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations related to our reinsurance treaties in accordance with IFRS and Statutory accounting standards
- Help implement reinsurance calculations within Reinsurance system
- Analyze and ensure accuracy of reinsurance reporting out of Reinsurance system
- Participate in reinsurance working group tasked with implementation and ongoing administration of reinsurance agreements
- Work with external reinsurers to answer inquiries and resolve issues
- Help prepare complex standard and non-standard reports and analysis
- Work with the team to find new methods of analyzing data and understanding results by working with others and understanding trends
- Help to identify process improvement opportunities and implement efficiencies
Projects:
- Play a support role in projects the team participates in.
- Work on basic to intermediate projects to build knowledge of company, industry and technical knowledge.
Internal Control Environment:
- Understanding of the importance of internal controls to a top-tier financial team with adherence to the controls in place.
- Understanding of internal controls in place relevant to self and team including overall process documentation and testing and performing the control
- Help to identify improvements to controls or need for future controls.
Communication:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Action oriented. Ability to follow up on feedback to ensure positive outcomes.
- Ability to effectively communicate issues or progress within the team.
What you bring:
Minimum Requirements:
- 0-2 years' experience required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Basic understanding of IFRS and Statutory accounting guidance as well as internal controls
- Good understanding of general ledger / financial reporting
