Lead Mechanical Design Engineer - Hybrid

This opening is for a Lead Engineer role for LM2500 engine line. The LM2500 is an industrial and marine variant of the aircraft engine CF6-80C2 that has been modified for to power oil & gas, electrical and military & commercial marine applications. This position has the flexibility of optional hybrid schedule once fully trained. The hybrid schedule consists of working in the office minimum of 3 days per week and the option to work from home on the other days, based on team/project schedules.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Develop Mechanical Designs for assigned hardware that satisfy program and internal design requirements.
• Integrate collaboratively with diverse teams from multiple disciplinary functions such as thermal design, aero design, and systems design.
• Uses engineering judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks.
• Effectively using LEAN principles for daily work
• Manage projects per project management office (PMO) requirements.
• The person in this role will complete design reviews, drawing releases, quality requirements, assembly analyses, amongst other activities.
• Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
• Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.
• Support the team in preparation for technical reviews.
• Provide engineering support to manufacturing, repair and test & field issue resolution under mentorship of senior engineers.

Requirements:

• Bachelors /Masters/PhD in Mechanical Engineering specialization with strong academic track record
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in engineering in related field especially in Mechanical Design
• Strong Systems Thinking, Risk Abatement and Problem Solving
• Strong project management skills including cross-functional coordination of activities, influencing skills and conflict management.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. 

Desirable Qualifications:

• PMO certification
• Familiarization of FEA tools especially Ansys.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
• Ability to guide and influence others.
• In-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools
