Manager, Technical Support Quality
This position responsible to provide Technical Support and Quality Manger and maintenance staff in the Nacelle factory. This position has direct supervision of department staff in the assigned area and is also responsible for systems controlling product quality along with identification and resolution of non-conformances. Direct Technical Support for maintenance of tools, implementation of PWI's and Engineering Change Management (ECM) control for production and logistics team delivery targets. Oversee maintenance responsible for contractors engaged in maintaining Production, Logistics and Facility equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Apply Leadership securing safety, quality, delivery, cost across factories and cultures
- People management of a diverse and very experienced team
- Quality principles: Quality on the agenda, enhance customer focused, zero failure culture
- Quality Improvement: influence any process that affects quality within the factory and work for, facilitate and Support Quality improvements and elimination of recurring product defects and/ or process shortcomings
- Ensure internal audits & customer audits handling and best practices
- Establish and support wind turbines assembly in a lean production equipment setup
- Providing organizational improvements and innovative technical solution implementation (inc. manufacturing process improvement) to establish an industry benchmark manufacturing setup
- Secure that quality principles are well implemented at plant
- Interpret quality philosophy to key personnel in organization
- Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation
- Perform quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records
- Apply statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes
- Review all data obtained during all quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures
- Develop new approaches to solve problems identified during quality activities
- Keep management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and actions being taken to improve the situation
- Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards
- Play important role on quality management teams within organization
- Investigate and ensure corrective actions on customer complaints regarding quality
- Support and leader of New Product Introductions and Tech transfers
- Collect manufacturing requirements and improvements
- Develop assembly processes to include process flows, assembly documentation and training plans
- Monitor development and coordinate tool creation and deployment
- Determines test methods, procedures, parts, and equipment needed to implement engineering changes.
- Support CAPEX projects with regional PE group
- Optimize existing processes
- Accountable for budget planning and execution
- Support TPM and OEE processes to Production
- Maintain equipment PM and EAM database with high accuracy.
- Oversee Engineering Change Requests from creation through implementation with support from Global teams.
- Support Continuous Improvement programs to reduce labor hours, increase productivity through standard process deployments, tools and poke yoke methods. Examples are Lean and Six Sigma.
- Maintain and support new product introductions to implement PWI's, tools and quality plans into production processes with Global teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 5+ years' experience with Quality/ Engineering or technical management and people management responsibilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, SAP and additional software programs).
- ASQ Quality Engineering Certification, Certified Manager of Quality / Operational Excellence (CMQ/OE), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB) - not required, but desired.
- Experience with Technical Drawings and Quality Sampling Inspection Methodologies.
- System skills - Microsoft Office, ERP / MRP systems, QDA database
Competencies:
- Experience with ISO 9001, ISO14001 and ISO18001.
- Experience designing and establishing systems within a quality function.
- Experience with Technical Drawings and Quality Sampling Inspection Methodologies.
- Continuous improvement project management experience.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma & Lean methods/systems.
- Problem solving skills.
- Budget accountability.
- Knowledge in the interpretation and application of relevant Domestic and International Regulations and Industry Standards (e.g. ISO, QSR, UL, CSA, VDE, etc.)
