Partnership Development Manager

Location: Maputo, Mozambique

Deadline: 24th March 2024

Salary: Competitive with excellent benefits

Contract: Permanent, full time

As our Partnership Development Manager, you will be a member of the Mozambique team Reporting Directly to the Country Director and working across teams to support positioning for funding opportunities to support the delivery of WaterAid Mozambique's multi-annual strategic plan. The Role will be supporting the identification and cultivation of potential partners working in complimentary sectors such as health, education, climate change and agriculture / livelihoods.

Key accountabilities among others include:

  • Oversee the Country Programme's Partnership Development and resource mobilisation strategy.
  • Maintain up-to-date intelligence on donors and the funding landscape in country as well as globally.
  • Work closely with Country Director and other senior staff to cultivate relationships with donor delegations and representatives of strategic / consortium partners in Mozambique.
  • Manage and maintain a system for tracking potential in-country funding opportunities. Work closely with colleagues in WaterAid member offices to track global opportunities with potential relevance to WaterAid's work in Mozambique.
  • Ensure qualified funding opportunities are recorded on WaterAid's Restricted Income System (RIS) and manage RIS entries as opportunities progress through different stages in line with internal processes.
  • Coordinate the analysis of funding opportunities and support senior colleagues to make bid / no-bid decisions.
  • Oversee bid development activities drawing on internal bid coordination support from HQ as required. Coordinate bid inputs from relevant in-country colleagues.
  • Oversee internal systems for the effective oversight and tracking of contracts ensuring that high quality donor reports are produced within contractually agreed timeframes
  • Coordinate contracting processes for funds secured in country including review and negotiation of terms and conditions. Support contracting processes for funds originating from WaterAid member offices as required.

To be successful, you will need the following:

  • An advanced degree in international development or other related discipline (or relevant experience gained through employment)
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience with at least three (3) years at a senior level with responsibility for business development/resource mobilisation in a similar organization
  • Strong experience of soliciting funds and supporting contractual compliance with key multilateral and bilateral donors including USAID, UK FCDO, EC, Sida, World Bank etc.
  • Experience of working in consortia to secure and manage donor funding
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including excellent report writing skills, and the ability to communicate information and ideas effectively
  • Experience coordinating bids including internal bid review and sign off processes
  • Strong numerical ability
  • Experience managing contract inception, donor compliance monitoring and reporting
  • Excellent inter-personal and networking skills with experience of developing and cultivating effective network of business development contacts and relationships
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced working environment and effectively plan, prioritise and co-ordinate work of self and other colleagues
  • Ability to 'manage without authority' and influence others to achieve results and deliver on time
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce high quality and accurate information and documentation
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of and/or willingness to learn Portuguese
