This role is responsible to organize inspections for all commodities, liaise with all stakeholders including end client, conduct inspection of mechanical commodities and performance monitoring of suppliers.
You shall guide and mentor key suppliers in the application of quality requirements and tools, while in close collaboration with Engineering, Sourcing, Quality and Project teams.
Supplier Inspection Management: On receipt of inspection call from the supplier, ensure timely organization, prerequisite document readiness, allocation and execution of inspections, aligned with the sourcing and project delivery milestones. Identify the right competence of the inspector (internal or third party) based on the criticality of the product and/or inspection and timely assignment. Close coordination with end client for joint inspections and documentary requirements. Follow up with all relevant stakeholders to streamline the process.
Conduct physical inspections of different mechanical commodities such as Hydraulic Oil units, Couplings, Valves, Pumps, Cranes, Elevators, HVAC, Fire Fighting systems, etc.
Provide technical guidance to suppliers to assure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications. Own and drive quick resolutions to overcome any delays.
Co-ordinate with internal stakeholders and clients to ensure timely inspection, documentation and clearance of the offered items to meet project deliverables.
Report out – Generate Monthly MIS for inspection activities to share with stakeholders
Drive cost-out through robust inspection management, leveraging use of competent third-party inspectors for non-critical scope and detailed planning to minimize travel time and cost.
B.E/B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical field from an accredited university or college with 10+ years of experience in Quality control / Quality Assurance / Inspections / Supplier development / Manufacturing functions OR Diploma in Mechanical or an equivalent technical field from an accredited university or college with 15+ years of experience in Quality control / Quality Assurance / Inspections / Supplier development / Manufacturing functions
Working knowledge of manufacturing codes and standard i.e., ASME, EN, ANSI, etc. And strong background in interpretation of Engineering drawings/specifications, metrology, and manufacturing process evaluation.
Hands-on experience with the manufacturing process, complexities and inspection of MBoP commodities. Alongside ensuring the time bound documentation requirements i.e., Inspection reports (IR), Minutes of Inspection (MoI), Pre-shipment inspection (PSI), Release for shipment (RFS), End of Manufacturing Report (EOMR), etc.
Functional awareness of tools such as SAP-ERP PE8 module, MTA, Team-Up, Ms. Office, etc.
Ability and willingness to travel domestically on short notice up to 40%
Fluent in English language. Other local Indian languages would be an advantage
Awareness of problem-solving tools: 8D, 5Why and Fish-Bone problem solving techniques, Problem Solving Report (PSR), Six Sigma, etc.
Experience working within matrix, cross-functional team environment with the ability to keep stakeholders and business leaders apprised about strategies/plans that will affect the business
Knowledge of internal auditing and/or ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards
