Mission and objectives
The United Nations (UN) is an international organization founded in 1945. Currently made up of 193 Member States, the mission and work of the United Nations are guided by the purposes and principles contained in its founding Charter. On September 21, 1971, the Royal Government of Bhutan became the 128th member of the United Nations. The Office of the United Nations in Bhutan was established in early 1974. Since then, the country has been home to many UN agencies, funds and programmes that together support the Government in delivering national development needs and improving the socio-economic conditions of the people of Bhutan. The United Nations Resident Coordinator Office supports the work of the UN Resident Coordinator. The UN Resident Coordinator leads the UN country team in consultations with the Government to define and agree on the UN strategic response to the Government’s development priorities. This response is captured in the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) or United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF).
Context
The RCO is committed to promoting sustainable development and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on a global scale. One of the key aspects of the RCO’s work is to monitor and report on the progress made by individual agencies towards achieving these goals. For this purpose, the RCO is seeking the support of a talented Online Volunteer with professional expertise in Graphic Design to design the United NationsAnnual Country Results Report. The Report serves as a comprehensive overview of the progress, challenges, and achievements of Bhutan in relation to the SDGs. It is a vital communication tool that provides stakeholders, including government officials, policymakers, civil society organizations, and the general public, with valuable insights into the country's development efforts.
Task description
Provide support in designing the United Nations Bhutan Annual Country Results Report for the year 2023. The report serves as a crucial communication tool to showcase the achievements, impact, and progress made by the United Nations in Bhutan over the past year. We are looking for Online Volunteers who under the guidance of the Assistant Development Coordination Officer- Programme Communications and Advocacy for the Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO), Bhutan. The Online Volunteer will support with the following: 1. Collaborate with the RCO to conceptualize the overall design and layout of the report which will include translating the text of the report into visually compelling design. 2. Create engaging infographics and data visualizations to present information and statistics in a clear and accessible manner, which will include- charts, graphs, maps, diagrams and other infographics. 3. Design the layout and formatting of the report- include text placement, image placement, and overall flow by ensuring consistency in typography, color scheme. 4. Curate and select relevant images and photographs provided by the RCO- edit and enhance images as necessary to maintain visual consistency and quality. 5. Incorporate feedback and revisions from RCO through out the design process to ensure the final report meets the expectations and requirements. The design/layout should follow our corporate design guidelines which will be shared with the Online Volunteers in advance.
